    DETAILS

Detox and rejuvenate your body with Quicksilver Scientific’s Liposomal Glutathione, a highly bioavailable form of the body’s master antioxidant that supports healthy ageing, immunity, and detoxification.

Glutathione is an endogenous nonprotein antioxidant, meaning that it functions as an antioxidant defence against reactive oxygen/nitrogen species, and is a critical regulator of oxidative stress, immune function, and metabolic energy. It is present in virtually every single cell of the body, and helps protect our cells from the negative effects of toxins (including peroxides, heavy metals, and a broad spectrum of free radicals) by neutralising and removing them from the body. Its concentrations are highest in the liver, an organ which is constantly processing and removing toxins from the body and requires adequate levels of glutathione to support these detoxification efforts.

With this much glutathione activity, the body’s glutathione levels are constantly being challenged. Hence, supplementing with glutathione should be a foundational part of your wellness routine.

Not all glutathione supplements are created equal. In fact, with most non-liposomal oral alternatives (capsule or powdered), the glutathione breaks down into its individual components in the digestive tract before even reaching our cells.

Dr. Shade is the CO and co-founder of Quicksilver Scientific, and a world-renowned expert in the field of heavy metals and detoxification - and he personally developed Quicksilver Scientific’s Liposomal Glutathione. Their trademark Quicksilver Delivery System® utilises the world’s most advanced liposomal/phospholipid delivery systems to offer the most efficient and effective uptake in the locations where glutathione is most needed. Liposomes (small pockets of fat cells) encapsulate and protect the core ingredients from being damaged in the digestive system while increasing their absorption and transport speed and nourishing your cells with phosphatidylcholine (a source of choline).

    BENEFITS

    • Antioxidant and detoxifying (heavy metal detox)

Glutathione, an antioxidant in itself, is key to our body’s innate ability to eliminate toxins. It directly binds heavy metals and helps to make them more water soluble so that they can be eliminated from our bodies in our bile and urine.

Heavy metals block several key steps in energy production in our mitochondria, leading to low energy levels. Neutralising heavy metals and restoring energy levels requires high levels of glutathione, but most people with heavy metal toxic loads have low levels of glutathione. So, if you are participating in any kind of heavy metal detox, supplementing with glutathione will be highly supportive of the process.

    • Supports mitochondrial health, and therefore energy levels

Energy or ATP production occurs in the mitochondria, which are being constantly attacked and damaged by free radicals/oxidising substances, leading to low energy levels. To protect themselves from this, our mitochondria use mitochondrial glutathione (mGSH) which must be imported into the mitochondria (via crossing the mitochondrial membrane) from the cell cytosol - where glutathione is made. When we supplement with liposomal glutathione, we increase the amount of glutathione circulating in the cell cytosol, and therefore the amount of mGSH that our mitochondria can utilise; glutathione also binds environmental toxins that slow down the production of ATP.

    • Supports healthy Immune function

Glutathione helps fight infections by priming/boosting specific white blood cells, such as natural killer (NK) and T-cells. Glutathione-enhanced T-cells, for example, are able to produce more infection-fighting substances as well as the controlling factor of both bacterial and viral infections.

Glutathione also works to modulate the behaviour of immune cells, increasing both the innate and adaptive immunity of the body while providing protection against microbial, viral, and parasitic infections.

    • Supports gut health

Glutathione S-transferase alpha - an enzyme specific to the intestinal lining cells involved in cell protection - binds glutathione to toxins and foreign compounds found inside the cells, thereby detoxifying the cells of the intestinal tract and protecting the gut lining from damage.

Glutathione is also made up of an amino acid called glutamine, a preferred fuel for intestinal lining cells and critical for the repair and strengthening of damaged intestinal membranes, and also for reducing intestinal permeability (leaky gut).

    • Contains phosphatidylcholine (PC) - Supports cognitive function, energy, and gut health

PC is one of the building blocks of the liposomes in liposomal glutathione. It is also one of the building blocks of the mitochondrial membrane, where it provides strength and support to the crucial site of our energy/ATP production. As the PC in liposomal glutathione is a rich source of choline - which is used in turn to make acetylcholine (ACh), the neurotransmitter responsible for focus and alertness in the brain, while also being used by the entire autonomic nervous system that keeps our heart, lungs and other organs functioning - it can further boost energy levels.

Additionally, PC has been shown to heal intestinal inflammation and inflammatory-related diseases in the gut, as well as to improve liver function.

    • Anti-inflammatory, may be beneficial for those with autoimmune illness

Autoimmune disease occurs when the body mistakenly attacks its own tissues via the immune system, which leads to oxidative stress. This in turn causes cell damage, inflammation, and symptoms like joint pain, fatigue, brain fog, and much more. Glutathione neutralises free radicals, and so our natural, innate stores can get used up quickly if our bodies are under oxidative stress - so supplementing with it can help to both prevent and reduce the effects of oxidative stress.

    • Supports liver health

Glutathione, since it is a detoxifier, is found in large quantities in liver cells where it helps our liver to function more efficiently. Glutathione has been shown to decrease the liver enzyme ALT, triglycerides, and non-esterified fatty acids - all of which are markers of NAFLD, and decrease as liver function improves.
